On September 19, 2019, the Rotary Club Warszawa Goethe, together with the Willy-Brandt School (WBS) in Warsaw, organized its second run against polio.
Out of a total of 350 students at WBS, more than 300 participated in the run. Over the course of an entire school day, students from all grades successively showcased their athletic abilities.
The best runners went on to represent WBS in an interschool sports competition in the following days. The winning class was awarded a trophy sponsored by the Rotary Club Warszawa Goethe, which they were allowed to display in their classroom for the entire school year. During breaks, students also attended an age-appropriate presentation on the topic of "waste separation."
The main theme of the WBS school run was the fight against polio. Participants, sponsored by their families and acquaintances, raised over 18,000 PLN in donations, of which nearly 14,000 PLN was allocated to the global fight against polio.
With the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this effort contributed approximately 41,500 PLN to polio eradication.
